Neurophenomenology and the Dynamics of Consciousness
I will present a conception
of consciousness as intransitive and pre-reflective self-awareness
drawn from the phenomenological tradition. On this conception,
consciousness is intrinsically a dynamic phenomenon. I will compare
this
conception to the currently rather static conceptions of access
consciousness and phenomenal consciousness. Finally, I will propose
a neurophenomenological approach to investigating pre-reflective
self-awareness that integrates neurodynamics and first-person
phenomenology.
