TRAVEL INFORMATION
ASSC4 will take place on the Solbosch Campus of the Université Libre de Bruxelles. On this page, you will find directions about how to get to Brussels from the aiport or by car, as well as information about how to get to the campus.

The following web sites offer useful information to assist you in planning your trip:

  • Brussels' Zaventem airport offers a wealth of information about connections to Brussels, including maps.

  • For information about public transport options, check out the railways and buses/trams/metro web sites; both of which offer detailed information concerning schedules, prices, etc.

  • The excellent ISMAP web site offers detailed interactive maps of Brussels that you can print out or even download to your Palm. The service allows you to enter any address in Brussels and obtain relevant local maps.

Directions to the Solbosch Campus:

The campus is located along the avenue Franklin D. Roosevelt, between the "Bois de la Cambre" and the "Cimetière d'Ixelles". The meeting will take place at the following address:

ARRIVING BY TRAIN:

  • From the Central Station (Gare Centrale / Centraal Station)

    • Take the bus 71 direction Delta. Step out at the ULB-Solbosch stop.

  • From the Brussels-Midi station (gare du Midi / Zuidstation)

    • Take the subway (n°2) direction Simonis. Exit at the Louise / Louiza station. On the surface, take tram 93 (direction Marie-José) or 94 (direction Wiener) to the ULB-Solbosch stop.

      Alternative: Take the subway (n°2) direction Simonis. Exit at the Porte de Namur / Naamse Poort station. Take bus 71 direction Delta and step out at the ULB-Solbosch stop.

  • From the North Station (gare du Nord / Noordstation)

    • Take bus 61 (direction Montgomery) or 38 (direction Homborsch) to the Botanique / Kruituin stop. Then take tram 93 (direction Marie-José) or 94 (direction Wiener) to the ULB-Solbosch stop.

  • From the Etterbeek Station (Etterbeek)

    • Take bus 95 (direction Heiligenborre) or 96 (direction Sainte-Anne) to the Cimetière d'Ixelles / Kerkhof Elsene stop. From there, follow the rue de l'Université until you reach the Solbosch Campus — a 5 minutes walk.

ARRIVING BY PLANE (Brussels National Airport - Zaventem):

You can reach Brussels by train or by taxi:

  • By taxi: Take an AUTOLUX taxi. The price should be about 1100 BEF from the airport to the center of Brussels and 1150 BEF to the campus. If you intend to return to the airport with the same company, tell the driver and you should benefit from preferential rates (870 BEF each way).

  • By train: At the airport, you can take a train to the North Station (gare du Nord / Noordstation), to the Central Station (Gare Centrale / Centraalstation) or to Brussels-Midi (Bruxelles-midi / Zuidstation). There is a shuttle every hour 04, 20, 32 and 53. The journey costs about 90 BEF.

ARRIVING BY CAR:

Refer to the map below when following directions

  • From Paris:

    You should arrive by motorway E19

    • To go downtown, continue on the motorway direction Ostende (Oostende), Gand (Gent), Anvers (Antwerpen), Namur (Namen), Liège (Luik). After exit 11, take the direction of Bruxelles Centre (CENTRUM). You will then arrive on the avenue Charles Quint. Continue and take the tunnels. Exit the tunnels at the Place Rogier (Rogier Plein) : you are in the center of the city.

    • To go to the Solbosch Campus, continue in the tunnels direction Gare du Midi (Zuidstation). In the tunnel Louise, take the "Bois de la Cambre" direction on your right. Then follow the avenue Louise which is prolonged by the avenue F.D. Roosevelt. The campus will be on your left, at the begining of this avenue.

  • From Luxemburg:

    You should arrive by motorway E411

    • To go downtown, stay on the right-hand lane when the motorway ends and turn right at the light. Take the boulevard du Triomphe until you get onto the boulevard Général Jacques, where you will see directions to the center (Centre - Centrum).

    • To go to the Solbosch Campus, stay on the right-hand lane when the motorway ends and turn right at the light. Take the boulevard du Triomphe until the next light where you'll have to turn left. Drive straight onto the avenue de l'Université until you get to the Solbosch Campus.

  • From Liège:

    You should arrive by motorway E40

    • To go downtown, simply follow the Centre - Centrum directions at the end of the motorway.

    • To go to the Solbosch Campus, stay in the left-hand lane taking the direction Montgomery - Bruxelles sud when the motorway ends. Continue in the tunnels until you reach the boulevard Général Jacques. Follow it until the roundabout Etoile where you'll have to go straight (avenue du Congo). Turn left at the next light and you will arrive in the the avenue F.D. Roosevelt. The campus will be on your left, at the begining of this avenue.

  • From Antwerp:

    You should arrive by motorway E19 (A1)

    After exit 2, take the ringroad (« Ring ») direction Namur, Liège. When you are about to cross motorway E40 coming from Liège, follow the indications Centre - Centrum and refer to the instructions as if you came from Liège.
