TRAVEL AND ACCOMMODATIONS
ULBASSC4 will take place in Brussels. Capital of Belgium since its emergence as a sovereign state in 1830, Brussels has now found its true international vocation as headquarters for the European Union and NATO, as well as for hundreds of international organizations and companies.

Currently ranked the third largest conference city in the world, Brussels is in its prime: a city humming with decision-making and headline news.

More importantly perhaps, Brussels is also a great (but little known) tourist destination. Its increasingly cosmopolitan atmosphere is complemented by wonderful food (particularly chocolate!), the largest selection of fine beers in the world, and an extensive cultural heritage extending back to the middle ages. Thanks to a high-speed train network, it is also very close to other major european cities such as London or Paris or to historical gems such as the medieval city of Bruges.

Home to world-renowned artists such as Hergé (the creator of comic strip hero Tintin), Victor Horta (Art Nouveau architecture) or the painter Magritte, Belgium, with its three linguistic communities, its short history, and its sometimes arcane political system, is in more ways than one a surrealist country!

Through a reception and a banquet, as well as through an exclusive visit to a recently uncovered network of underground structures built by Charles the Vth, ASSC4 will offer many opportunities to sample life in Brussels.

In addition to further details about the social programme, this page will also contain information about how to get to Brussels and about your accommodation options. Stay tuned as the information is being finalized over the next few weeks.

In the meantime, please learn more about the Université Libre de Bruxelles and about the city itself by perusing these documents:
