Essex Hall
Overnight campus accommodation is available for all delegates attending the 3rd Annual Conference of the Association for the Scientific Study of Consciousness at The University of Western Ontario. All guests who wish campus accommodation will be housed in the newest residence on campus, Essex Hall.

Description
Essex Hall is conveniently located close to all the meetings and activities. This residence offers clean, comfortable and affordable accommodation in apartment-style units. These are four single bedrooms , two full bathrooms, a common area and kitchenette (complete with microwave oven, stove top and refrigerator) in each unit. Accommodations are available for the nights of June 03 to June 07, 1999. Check-in is after 3:00 p.m. on your day of arrival and check-out is before 11:00 a.m. on your day of departure. The building is accessible to the disabled by elevators to all floors and is air-conditioned for your comfort.
The building is staffed 24 hours a day at the Front Desk and the guests will be accommodated in fully furnished rooms, complete with bed linen, towels, soap and drinking glass. Daily service is provided to the rooms by University staff. Each unit in Essex Hall will be designated male, female or co-ed. According to University policy, smoking is not permitted in the residence. There are pay phones and vending machines for snacks and beverages located in the building and coin-operated laundry facilities on each floor.
Residence Meals
The residence has it's own dining room and the Executive Chef offers a wide variety of menu items at each scheduled meal. We are confident you will not leave the dining room hungry! Breakfast is served each day in the dining room of Essex Hall at a predetermined time each day, based on your agenda. A wide variety of menu items are offered at each meal.
Campus Parking
Parking is available to all overnight delegates staying in residence in a lot situated close to the residence. For those delegates staying off campus and who wish to drive onto campus each day, parking is available on a cash basis at an attended lot (approximately $7.00 per day) or in a coin operated lot at $2.00 per entry.
Special Needs Accommodations
Essex Hall and the campus buildings are barrier free.
Campus Recreation and Services
The University Community Centre features a 25-meter indoor pool for fitness and recreational swimming. Aquatic fitness classes are scheduled at various times throughout the day. Locker and towel service is available at the UCC facilities. Passes are sold on a weekly and day basis for a nominal fee. Squash, racquetball, tennis courts and weight rooms are also available on campus for the delegate's use.
Located in the University Community Centre is the book store (with a full line of UWO souvenir merchandise), postal outlet, computer store, hair salon, variety store, copy services, travel agency, film processing depot and a wide variety of brand name food outlets in Centre Spot.
Medical Facilities
Full medical services are available at University Hospital, located on the campus of UWO. The main number is (519) 663-3000 and (519) 663-3197 for the Emergency Department.
Telephone Service
To reach a campus number from a campus telephone, simply dial the last four digits only. When dialling an off-campus local number, dial "9" followed by the complete seven-digit telephone number. To make a long distance call, dial "9" and the area code and the full seven-digit number. Credit cards are required for long distance calls.
Message and Mail Service
Messages for registered guests in Essex Hall are posted in the Lobby of the residence. The number for Essex Hall is (519) 661- 4240.
E-mail Service
With advance notice, Conference Services is able to provide you with access to your E-mail while on campus. Please contact Conference Services directly for further information. Conference Services E-mail address is conference.services@julian.uwo.ca.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation or change to your registration (or any part thereof) must be sent to Conference Services at The University of Western Ontario by fax (519-661-3687). You may cancel or change your registration or accommodation reservation up to two weeks prior to the conference without penalty. Cancellations or changes received within two weeks of the conference will be subject to a 50% cancellation and/or change fee. Credit will not be issued for unused accommodation or breakfast. We are sorry, but we cannot issue credits for late arrivals, early departures or missed meals.
